The National Service Scheme (NSS) at Thiagarajar College of Engineering functions with two active NSS units, each comprising 100 student volunteers. The units work collectively to promote social responsibility, leadership, and community engagement among students. Through structured programs and community-based initiatives, NSS at TCE provides students with opportunities to contribute meaningfully to society while developing essential life skills and a strong sense of civic duty.
To develop socially responsible, disciplined, and compassionate youth by instilling the values of selfless service, leadership, and national integration, thereby contributing to the holistic development of society.
“Not Me, But You” The motto reflects the spirit of selfless service and emphasizes placing community welfare above persaonal interest.
The NSS Unit of Thiagarajar College of Engineering organizes a seven-day Special Camp annually in adopted villages, focusing on rural development, cleanliness, health awareness, digital literacy, environmental sustainability, and social welfare initiatives. Through community surveys, sanitation and cleanliness drives, health and medical camps, awareness programs, educational sessions for school students, and environmental activities, NSS volunteers actively engage with villagers to address local needs. The camp strengthens community bonding while enabling volunteers to develop leadership, teamwork, and social responsibility, truly reflecting the NSS motto, “Not Me, But You”
An enriching trekking was organized to provide volunteers with a refreshing break from routine and an opportunity to connect with nature. The experience offered scenic trails and a calm environment, encouraging physical fitness and mental well-being.
The trek also provided insights into the cultural and historical significance of the region while fostering teamwork, interaction, and bonding among the volunteers. The enthusiastic participation and collective spirit made the activity both educational and memorable. Overall, the trekking activity reflected the core values of the National Service Scheme by promoting adventure, unity, and holistic development among student volunteers.
